To qualify for the week 5 waiver wire segment each week players must be less than 50% owned in ESPN leagues. This article is not in any particular order it just a list of players to add for the week.
For more on these players and more listen here!
Latavious Murray- 55.6%
OJ Howard- 83.4%
Vance McDonald- 70.2%
Ronald Jones-44.2%- After two solid weeks in a row, one being against the stout Rams, Jones deserves a spot in most leagues. They do have a couple tough defenses in the next two week but Jones should be able to be considered a flex option moving forward.
Jaylen Samuels-19.2%- Samuels was used much more in the offense in his game against the Bengals. The Steelers got more creative and started using him in the Wildcat formation. This lead to his touchdown in the second half! With the young quarterback in Mason Rudolph not taking many chances down field this helped when Samuels was on the field as he caught 8 balls for 31 yards. Don’t expect these kind of numbers the remainder of the season but he is definitely worth a look on a running back needy team.
Honorable Mentions: Jordan Howard: 56% Owned, Darrel Williams: 44.3% Owned
AJ Brown-6%- Brown has not received more than 5 targets in any week but has been able to produce in two of those weeks with limited targets. Brown is a big play threat and with good QB play has the potential to have solid weeks as the season moves into bye weeks. That being said the Titans have a tough matchup against the Bills this week making him merely a bench stash.
Jarius Wright-0.1%- Wright has seen his production improve with Kyle Allen filling in as the starter catching 7 balls for 97 yards since week 2. Wright is a veteran receiver who appears to have the trust of the young Allen. Wright could come into flex play consideration if Allen continues to start for the Panthers.
Diontae Johnson-6.2%- Johnson has back to back games with a TD with Mason Rudolph starting in both of those games. With Rudolph being the starter for the rest of the season and the chemistry developing between the two, Johnson looks to be one of the top options to add at receiver this week.
Cole Beasley– 20.7% Owned- Cole Beasley continues to be undervalued by many fantasy football players as evidenced by his ownership percentage. Beasley has finished below 12 points in only 1 week this season and has only been targeted less than 9 times in 1 of the 4 games he has played in this season. While Beasley is not a big play threat his value is buoyed by a large target share and the offense playing to his strengths with short pass plays. Beasley should be owned in a majority of leagues and should be in consideration as a flex play weekly.
Geronimo Allison– 27.2% Owned- Allison has been able to score in two weeks this season but has not been good outside of that. This add is all about opportunity heading into next week when Davante Adams will not play due to turf toe. As long as Adams is not able to play Allison will be worth flex consideration weekly.
Preston Williams: 5.7% Owned- Williams has been remarkably consistent to this point in the season. He has scored in double digits 3 of 4 weeks and has been the top target in that offense week in and week out. Williams has a bye this week but moving forward could be a good depth piece as byes start to pop up.
Honorable Mentions: Mohamed Sanu: 35.2% Owned, Golden Tate: 51.2% Owned, DJ Chark: 66.2% Owned, Phillip Dorsett: 37% Owned, Marquez Valdes-Scantling-66.7%
Jacoby Brissett: 32.1%- This will be the last time hen makes our list for awhile, You can only beat the same drum for a certain amount of time! Brissett has not been a top option at QB this season but what he has been is consistent. Brissett is in a good system and has shown that he can shoulder the workload week in and week out. If Brissett continues his consistency he could finish as a QB1 come seasons end.
Matthew Stafford-44.2%- Stafford has been a top 12 QB this season and should be owned in most leagues. We have mentioned Stafford several times this season but last seasons woes seem to still have a place in people’s minds. If you are struggling at QB Stafford could be the low cost option to help solidify the position for you.
Honorable Mentions: Chase Daniels-0.0%, Mason Rudolph-12.4%
Jimmy Graham-35.7%- Coming off of two duds Graham was able to get back on the board with a TD this week. As promised Graham was more involved in the offense this week and with Davante Adams out this week Graham should see opportunities for targets this week.
Gerald Everett-1.8%- Everett was able to turn his eight targets this week into 5 catches for 44 yards and a TD. While this was a strong showing it came in a game where the Rams threw the ball more than 60 times. This volume is not likely to occur very often but it did show that when needed Everett can produce in a solid offense.
James O’Shaughnessy-2.7%- Speaking of consistency have you met James O’Shaughnessy? O’Shaughnessy has not scored less than 6 points in any week this season. While he may not be putting up great numbers he has been able to be relevant every week which at the TE position is hard to find. As a bye week fill in O’Shaughnessy is a fine option.
Chris Herndon-8.2%- Herndon will be eligible to return next week, If you want to get ahead of the curve and have the space on your bench, now is the time to get him! He should be able to step in as a security blanket for whichever QB is on the field this week. Herndon is coming off a solid rookie season and should be able to build on that coming off of a 4 game suspension.
Honorable Mentions: Noah Fant– 8.1%
